Kachó di Kòrsou – Dog of Curacao – is a small-scale, home-based shelter for dogs in Curacao.
Led by Mario and Dirry, they take in dogs in need and work with a committed network of volunteers, fosters and flight counselors. To adopt dogs, KDK works closely with the Street to Home Foundation, which matches dogs with their new owners in the Netherlands. Thanks to this collaboration, countless dogs get a new chance at a safe and loving home.
KDK deliberately chooses small scale: each dog gets the care, attention and love it deserves. Besides shelter and adoption, they also support local residents with food and medical assistance, and keep a close eye on groups of stray dogs to prevent growth through sterilizations. Their efforts are indispensable, as reports of dogs in need come in daily.
Wings for Animals supports KDK structurally. Through Stichting DierenLot we ensure that food and materials arrive on Curaçao; we take care of the import costs. We also contribute financially to medical interventions to prevent animal suffering and support sterilization projects. In the early years we took our own goods with us, but now DierenLot has taken over on a larger scale – something we are very grateful for.
In addition, we are in close contact with Dirry. When travelers or tourists approach us via social media or our website with questions or reports about dogs in need on Curaçao, we can always contact her.
